Guests: Tua Pui Poh & Ah Toh Pek
We have two new guests this week to talk about Cheng Beng. I’m sure many of you have already been to the cemetery or will be going this week. Since I grew up a Christian, I didn’t really know many of the rituals and customs when it comes to Cheng Beng. I’m so lucky to have two guests who are knowledgeable, especially Ah Toh Pek who has an uncle who sells things you may need for Cheng Beng. Thanks to Ah Tox and Ah Toh Pek who sent in some of these wonderful pictures.

Hi Miku and friends,
I listened to the Cheng Beng episode and one of the guests mentioned the women are considered “lasam” or dirty. Actually, I’ve often wondered why women are always considered inferior in Chinese culture, even till today. I remembered that my mom would separate my underwear from my dad and brother’s laundry. We are in Year 2007. So why this “lasam” mentality? It’s a great topic for discussion, don’t you think?

Huat Kok Kau, I do agree that it is a good topic to go into further discussions.
I’ll put it down as a future topic in the forum.
