Guests: Too many to name. You just have to check it out.
This show is for all the listeners out there who have been supporting Penang Hokkien for a long time, and those who are starting to discover the joy and fun of participating in a chat show entirely (almost) in Penang Hokkien.
It is your continuous support that made Penang Hokkien possible and going strong for 2 years. I hope for many more to come.
Thanks to Ah Tox for the album artwork, and this crazy picture below! I wish I’m that thin.
This is how you can join me in celebrating our Penang Hokkien 2nd anniversary.
Show up on Saturday morning, August 11. 10AM to 1PM (Malaysian time)
I’ll be doing all the recording using Skype. If you have Skype, add me to your contact. My Skype ID is johnong. Then, send me your ID, I will try to talk to as many people as possible during the first hour about Penang Hokkien Podcast.
If you don’t have Skype, download now, and get a pair of headphones, find a quiet place, and wait for me to call you. I will have 3 people at one time, so that we can still carry on a conversation. Too many people will turn into a mess.
1st Hour: Penang Hokkien Podcast 2nd Anniversary
2nd Hour: “2”. Anything to do with 2.
3rd Hour: “Gua Poh Penang Lang”. This show is for all the Penangites living abroad.
To celebrate Penang Hokkien 2nd Anniversary, I will not take a list of people. Anyone can join. Just let me call you. Send me an IM, or send a request in the Skype Sembang room. I will call you.
Thanks for all your support for the last 2 years. Hope many of you can join me.
Guests: Ah Tox, Ban Chang Kueh, & Lap Chiong
This week we talk about Gurney Drive, or we all call it Kuan Nah Kak. We discussed about food from this end of Gurney Drive, to the other end of the Gurney Drive where most people go dating.
On August 11, we will be recording some anniversary shows. We celebrate 2 years of Penang Hokkien Podcast for the entire month of August! Check out on https://PenangHokkien.com for more information about the recording. Thank you for all your support!
I was distracted by the hundreds of new listeners coming to https://PenangHokkien.com a year ago after The Star published a nice story about my site. Just like how a year later, Kwong Wah Jit Poh did.
Here is the video that never was released. I guess it’s time to release the first year anniversary now. One year late. While we are celebrating the 2nd anniversary.

And of course, I will be webcasting it live. Come back to this site to get the link.
I hope you can all join me!
Thanks to a few of you who made me the special 2 year anniversary pictures and video. I will be posting them throughout the month of August.
I hereby declare the month of August as Penang Hokkien Month!
Guests: Ban Chang Kueh, Ah Leng, Motoleng, Wiwiwawa, & Pong Pah.
We explored the intriguing world of voodoo, what we call Kong Tao in Hokkien.
This show is both creepy and exciting. Believe it or not, it was fun and informative for me, I hope you’ll enjoy too. Share your own knowledge and experience here in the comments area, or join our Penang Hokkien Forum.
A special welcome to all the new Kwong Wah Jit Poh’s readers.
特别欢迎每位光华日报读者。
Welcome to all the new listeners from Kwong Wah newspaper 光华日报.
The new show will be up around 2PM Malaysian time today.
The topic is “Kong Tao” or Voodoo. Come back for it!

Thanks to Shua Hu and Cheah for the link.
Guests: Pong Pah, WiwiWawa, & Motoleng
UPDATE: My mom told me it’s not 江, it’s 港, as in port.
Since we have so many listeners not from the Penang island, we decided to invite those who live on the mainland to chat with us. Some from outside of the Penang state. But since we all speak Hokkien, we are all connected by the dialect. And that of course includes anyone who understand us even if you’re not from the north. Of course, we talk more than just food, but food is the main thing we can all relate. Enjoy. Don’t eat too full!
So, our loyal listener, Shua Huan told me that The Star uses one of our Penang Hokkien gathering pictures from The Star photographer for an article titled “Having Fun At Work”. You can click on the picture and click on All Sizes and read the article. It has nothing to do with Penang Hokkien. But we must have food laughters to get selected! I think it’s only available for the central edition of the Star.
Thanks to Shua Huan for letting me know, and Taoju for scanning the article for me.
