      初一前:購買賀年物品,俗稱「辦年貨」。
      年三十晚:吃團圓飯。
      初一:到廟宇上頭香、出門拜年。
      初二:出門拜年,回娘家之日。
      初三:通常不會外出拜年,因“赤口”,所以希望避免容易與人發生口角爭執,若有親朋好友尚未互相拜年,便會在年初四繼續。
      初七:人日,撈魚生,是新馬一帶獨有的年菜。把食材準備好後要站起來,用筷子把魚片和其他配料配料拌勻,邊說:「撈起,撈起,撈個風生水起!」而且要越撈越高,以示步步高升。
      初九:如果是福建人后裔則有天公誕,當天凌晨或者初八夜晚子時後,各家便開始祭祀。
      十五:元宵節。新馬一帶的元宵節和七夕一樣被稱為“中國情人節”,慶祝方式也有所不同:未婚女性會結伴到河邊拋柑祈求姻緣(男性則撈柑)[12],而且普遍上沒有提燈籠或賞燈等習俗。
