To celebrate Gay Pride Month, I decide to share our chat on Pride48.com with you from this past weekend. Find out how supportive my PGHK community is to me. Let some of us share our lives as gay men, and how you can help the GLBT community as supportive allies.

I should have joined the episode ! I miss Katakpuru, she’s been away for such a long time, eh ? I have some stories to tell also, so we should totally do it again.
Hi John,
Today DOMA is dead and Prop 8 has been declared unconstitutional. I live in San Francisco where folks have been celebrating all day, especially in the Castro. I am straight but today I am filled with gay pride.
Thank you. As I mentioned in the show. We rely on our straight allies to change the society’s fear of the unknown or miseducation
Thank you.
Wanted to comment about what Eng Kok Teong mentioned during the podcast about the non existent gay scene in Penang. Penang being a small island of finite number of gays, many are afraid of making themselves too visible. But go to places where they hang out like malls, gyms and you will see a number hanging out with their cliques.
There are also 3 saunas actively operating on the mainland. These are mostly underground because of security reasons but asking around, you can be pointed to the right direction.
Virtual groups exists on social media sites especially Facebook. These groups have their own gatherings sometimes at private venues so you don’t see them. These groups are not mutually exclusive and it’s not uncommon to find the same people in multiple groups.
Cruising areas are still active. Drive by late at night and you can see men doing it at some private corner. Stand around and someone will come up to you.
My point is that the scene is there. You just need to know where to look. Many are underground due to the persecution by those in power. It makes advocacy & empowering work difficult. What we need right now is to stop the persecution so that we can work advocating things like safe sex, testing & early treatment, being the marginalized community off the streets.
