    Hi there,
Your podcast is hillarious! I’m hooked. It’s been a while since I’ve heard anyone speak Hokkien.

  3. John Ong

    Xian,

Thanks for the phone message. I promise I won’t play it on the show. But it doesn’t mean I won’t share what you said. So, stay subscribed to the show, and find out in the next few shows what I’ll do with the message. But don’t worry I won’t play it.

    Poh Si,
I just visited your site. How cool. I’m afraid of cicak tho.
Thanks for the compliment. Please come back every week to check out our new show. Please help me spread the news out to those who might enjoy the show. Thanks!

hi john. you must be the same john i first get to know via kayes penangtalk. and you did signed up for my penang4u yahoogroups too right? well that group is dead now. i had some plans in mind to ‘resurrect’ it in the form of a blog.

i came across this site of yours via the penang bloggers portal. good to see you starting this site with podcasts to entertain us. keep it up!

  5. John Ong

    Lucia,
Yes! I’m the same John. i’m so glad you found this site. Please help me spread the news about the show. I hope we can cross promote our sites. I really think this is the very first show entirely in Penang Hokkien. I’m very excited about it, and I’d need all your help to spread the news about this podcast. When your new blog shows up, please let me know. I’ll be able to put it in the link of this show.

It sounded hilarious, refreshing and so down-memory-lane. Its so good to listen to a hometown people talking in tongues that is so “lau-nuah” I really enjoyed the podcast and I wish I can contribute my “koh-su” too.I like to “Chap Goh Meh” pantun. Sp keep podcasting in Pinang Hokkien…Lu pai tih kong, wakee chiak hong.

    Ban Lee,
Thank you so much for your comment. Indeed I agree with your observations. I for one, is the one who feels like it’s a memory lane. I really started the show because I have waited long enough for some Penang podcasts. So, I decided to start one, and hopefully this would spark some other podcasters straight from the island. I need all the help promoting the site. Tell you friends about it. Thank you again for listening and take the time to comment.

Hi guys, I’m from Penang also, and this is a very pleasant surprise indeed. A local podcast! And a great one too! Even though my Hokkien isn’t very good (shame on me) for a Penangite, but I still manage to understand most of your show. This is great, I’ll spread the word and post a link on my blog.

    Yik Wen,

Thanks for listening to the show. And for posting your message here. Love for you to tell all your friends about it. I don’t think I have ever listened to any sort of radio/tv shows done entirely in Penang Hokkien. I’m hoping this would be something fresh and exciting. I know it surely is fun for all of us on the show. Thanks again.

This is great!! I’m originally from Penang but am studying overseas now. It’s just great to hear something about home and especially when it’s spoken in our very own language. My parents would sure to love this too! It’s also a great reminder to some of the words that are hardly use anymore. I love it!
