hey, undeniable “hiao hong” is hilarious and really entertaining (that’s why everybody loves him)..but..i think we should give some credits to john n KE too! they are doing a good job as well!! as the name suggested, “john ong and friendS”, without any one of them, the show won’t be fun!! Big claps to 3 of them!

Buka Puasa! Wah sai eh…. you people are really funny….. really talk all kind of things. That Buka Puasa really remind me when was in College. Is like us the Chinese also Buka Puasa and trying to race for the food when they open the night market for the evening. They not only have the “kuih” lah…but other foods are also nice…. like Laksa… Chicken on Stick…Poh Piah, Rojak and so…. it was like a food fiesta every evening during the Ramadan in Malaysia. That is what make it so nice about living in Malaysia. Wah…how much I miss the Buka Puasa evening!

Xian: You are so kind and sweet. 🙂 Thank you very much for that nice comment of yours. Things are going change a bit in the future. We’ll of course still have the beloved KE and Hiao Hong. But you’ll also hear more of my other friends. And of course, if you want to be a part of the recording. Just get Gizmo from https://gizmoproject.com and add me to your list, I’m “penanghokkien”.(without the quotes obviously)

Kwokie: I totally agree. Having buka puasa fun is not only for our Mustlim friends, Chinese is very greedy, we want to take part as well! That’s totally something we have that is very unique to the Malaysian community.

The talk about plastic bowls actually remind me about ‘tik pua’ (metal dishes). My ahmah used to have all the dishes that way and then my dad would throw them away when they are chipped or ‘khik’ and eventually we don’t have any left except for a few that are just for ‘pai sui’ now. But my ahmah always says, ‘Wa chiak eong tik pua eong ka wa pe chap hui. Wa tong kim ma si eong eong ko. Lu modern lang aneh kia si’. (I have been using metal dishes until I am 80 years old and today, I’m still strong while you modern people are afraid of death) I actually have to agree with her in this case. Don’t you think so? Those people during her generation never did knew what cancer was or what metal poisoning was and yet lots of them are still healthy today while we know much more and yet live our life in constant worry. Furthermore, I still like the idea of metal dishes sometimes and especially the stainless steel ones.
