We discussed how we missed Penang. Our guests shared how they missed Penang now and when they were not in Penang. I’m sure many of you would be able to relate. Share your experience in the comments area.
It’s not only the food that makes me nostalgic. I miss the convenience in Penang, the people, the smile, the jokes, the way we live…… The more I return from Penang to Xiamen, the more I miss Penang.
People in Xiamen dun take jokes the way we do in Penang. I feel bored when the sales people stare at me when I think I crack an ordinary joke or when I try to act a little “more” friendly. They’re so cold.
Just came back from Penang and I have never been happier. I spent time laughing and eating. I spent time walking around the city and I was glad I grew up in Penang. I was raised as an open-minded and optimistic person. Thanx to our mixture of cultures and tolerance.
I hate to see Penang vanishing. I dun think we need more shopping malls than we already have, I dun think we need to be outstanding in anything but I think we need to just be ourselves, our existing selves.
Chinese friends of mine went to Penang and they just loved it there. They found things they already lost in China, they saw TRUST and SIMPLICITY of life.
Penang, continue to be the same cute, the same pure, the same welcoming, the same tasty, the same ULU is OK ! I want to see the same nature, the same Balik Pulau, the same Tanjung Bungah, the same old buildings…… Maybe a newly decorated one, maybe a better public transport, maybe some new local food, maybe more interesting people…… ^_^
I recorded video scenes of penang from youtube into my handphone and watch them whenI feel so homesick…
I miss the people ,the building ,the atmostphere..the life style and every thing about penang..
but I am so lucky to find penanghokkien and our hero, miku john..and I found many close friends now from penanghokkien and we chat daily..It does makes my day bright…

back in high school, i never had so much love for penang before. i always wanted to get out from the island as soon as i graduated from form5. later, i moved to KL for my diploma. “wow” that was how i described KL. thats the usual feeling one would be having after getting out from their nutshell .
later, i realized i missed my dear hometown so much, so much till i traveled back almost every weekend. haha
now, im even further frm home. but it never stop me from flying back. and whenever im home, i hardly sleep. im serious. because to me, it’s a waste of time and i really want to spend every single moment treasuring my beautiful island/home.
penang; hrmm many things under one roof. food marathon, sight seeing, hiking, watersport, shopping and the list goes on and on.
goshh..i just miss penang.

Hi kepo,
Here are some web page that I recommended hope it helps.
Oh I forget to tell you guys. Beware of car thief that stole car and use the GPS in the car to locate the owner house and rob it when the owner is not at home. Most of us left the house key in the car so it make thing more simple for the thief. For my advise do not save any location in your GPS as “My home” or “home” just put as “1” or put any name that people could not easily guest. A lot of this case happen in KL already.

The last time I went back Penang was last year October. I remembered clearly that when the plane touched down Penang International Airport, I could see a big smile on my face. It was too good to be true! Anyway, this trip was just two weeks but it was fantastic. I had “Char Kuei” for my first meal after I touched down. I loved driving in Penang. I spent most time eating, driving, shopping, photographing. Hawker’s food was just around the corner. Eating good food has never been so easy. My favorites are roti canai, Jelutong market curry mee, Batu Lanchang market Chinese Pasembur and fried sweet potato ball, Malays kuih-muih, Lorong Delima Chee Cheong fun (the sauce is made of peanut butter.). YUM! I also missed Bangkali roti with the kaya paste, the best combination for afternoon tea. Enough of food right now. Malaysia weather is the most missed during winter and rainy seasons over here. I also missed the humid weather in Malaysia. Sweat like nobody business is satisfactory for me. Can I say one thing I dislike about most Penang vehicle users? I am going to say it anyway. They must learn to use vehicle signal lights. Such simple rule is critical and since it is simple, please use it. Till then!

Hi “brown sugar” !
I agree with you on Penang drivers…… But, wait until you come to China ! I have lived in Xiamen for 6 years now and I never realised Penang drivers were so civilised and so obedient compared to those I met here ! Ha. But true, some drivers are reckless in Penang…… I hope I am never considered as one of them…… ^^
