This policy explains how the Penang Hokkien Keyboard team handles information in connection with the iOS app 拍字盤, also known as Penang Hokkien Keyboard or 庇能福建拍字盤.

Keyboard Use
The keyboard uses dictionary resources and settings on your device to provide candidates. Its learning features use your selections to help prioritise candidates.
The Suggestions + Feedback feature is separate from ordinary keyboard use. It sends the information you enter into that form when you tap Send. It does not attach your keyboard learning database or a history of your typing.
You can use the keyboard without submitting feedback or providing an e-mail address. Allow Full Access is optional for typing.
Information You Submit
When you use Suggestions + Feedback or our online feedback form, we receive:
- Your selected submission type.
- The spelling, word suggestion, problem report or explanation you enter.
- Your e-mail address, if you choose to provide it.
- The time of submission.
For in-app submissions, the app also sends a randomly generated submission identifier to help reduce duplicates when a request is retried. This identifies a submission rather than serving as a permanent user or device identifier.
If you provide an e-mail address and correspond with us, we also receive the information you include in that correspondence.
Please do not include passwords, private conversations or sensitive information about yourself or other people.
How We Use Your Information
We use submissions to:
- Review words that may be missing from the dictionary.
- Consider additional spelling patterns for fuzzy matching.
- Investigate problems and improve the app.
- Respond to support questions and privacy requests.
- Contact you about your submission when you provide an e-mail address.
Suitable words, spellings and generalised examples may be incorporated into future dictionary or keyboard improvements. We do not publish your e-mail address or intentionally include personally identifying details in those improvements.
We do not sell feedback submissions or use feedback contact details for marketing.
Google Services
In-app feedback is transmitted over HTTPS to a receiver hosted using Google Apps Script. Responses are recorded using Google Forms and a linked Google Sheet.
The online feedback form records submissions through Google Forms and the linked spreadsheet.
You do not need an e-mail app to submit feedback. Providing an e-mail address is optional.
The response records are not published as a public list of submissions. Access is restricted to those authorised to manage and review feedback.
Google processes information as the service provider. Its infrastructure may process technical information associated with requests, and information may be processed outside your country of residence. For more information about Google’s practices, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
Retention
We retain feedback and related correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to review submissions, resolve issues, maintain relevant development records or meet legal obligations.
When identifying information is no longer needed, we will delete it or remove identifying details. Non-personal dictionary entries and spelling improvements derived from suggestions may remain part of the keyboard.
The in-app submission receiver’s duplicate-prevention cache is configured to retain submission identifiers for up to six hours, although cached entries may expire earlier.
Your Choices and Privacy Requests
Providing feedback is optional. You may leave the e-mail field empty and continue using the keyboard without sending feedback.
To request access, correction or deletion of information you submitted:
- Open our online feedback form.
- Select Report a Problem.
- Begin your message with Privacy Request and explain what you would like us to do.
- Include enough information to help us locate your submission, such as its approximate date and a short description.
- Provide an e-mail address if you would like a reply or confirmation.
You can also make the same request through Suggestions + Feedback in the app.
For submissions made without an e-mail address, we may need additional details to identify the correct record. We may need to verify a request before disclosing or deleting information. Please do not send identity documents unless we specifically discuss an appropriate verification method with you.
You can ask us to stop contacting you or stop using an identifiable submission for future review. This does not necessarily remove non-personal language information already incorporated into a released dictionary.
Security
We use encrypted transmission for in-app feedback and restrict access to response records. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Website
This policy concerns the keyboard app and its feedback service. Visiting our website may also involve cookies or technical information processed by the website and its hosting services. Any applicable website privacy and cookie notices apply separately.
