We discussed about Malaysian local fruits that we grew up with.
From banana to buah ciku. Durian to buah langsat.
I’m sure we’ve missed a whole lot. Continue the discussion in the forum.

I contemplated discarding the show. But the content about the fruit was too good for me to trash the show. Plus, I thought my frustration really came through! It made me laugh. So, I finally decided to post the show.

I think I know wat is “buah Lambai”, actually
its the one we used to pray for those “Ho Hia Di” during 7th month.
At Perlis we called “buah Lambey”. Its very sour one.

I oso missed the fruits call “Ambella”, here in Singapore
called “Ba Long Long”, sounds funny, dun know which part long?… Haha…
Had you all ever drink the Ambella juice with “Sui Buey” (Plum).
      Its my favourite drinks ler… : )

    9. AH "HUA".

Ai-yo!!! Ah John-ah!!! The moment u’ve mentioned “liu lian”….the first thing crossed my mind was “liu lian w plain steamed white rice”!!! The way I had it back home in Penang was to add some warm H-2O n then sprinkled some white sugar on top of the rice…..simply irresistible!!!!!..”si-pei ho liau!!!!”…yummy!!!!
Regarding to “ang jambu”….it’s called “jambu air” in Malay n “rose apple” in English.
Durian is very the very “mahal” in Japan!!!! It cost at least $100SD there depending
on it’s packaging……I think “Or-Tao” got the wrong information about the price from his friend-lah…where got so expensive-one…..$500RM?
That fruit w hairy seed is called “anpulla”-lah!!!!…. I’ve mentioned it in the last episode w Ah John last year…..I didn’t know that there have it here in Singapore!!!…..thanks to dcfc78…..”Ba Long Long” sounded really funny to me!!! it’s fulled of fibre….n really good for those who r suffering from constipation, haha!!!
“Ang Mor Durian” it’s called “soursop” in English if I’m not mistaken, ha!..one of my favourites, ha!…by the way, what the heck is “Nona fruit”??????!!!…can someone please post the pic. of this fruit on this site in order to enlighten me…please!!!
Gosh!!! Thanks for mentioning “cempedak” in this show!!! I really loved it big time!!!
….Especially when it was deep-fried in hot oil…..it’s seed tasted really good when it’s nicely fried!!!!!
Ah John-ah!!! I really loved this epidose so much!!! “Or-Tao”‘s voice sounded so much like mine, hahaha!!!…..the whole show was really really “spontaneously” recorded!!!! Thanks goodness u didn’t delete it!!!!! Great show!!!!! : )

    10. Ang Ku Kueh

I wish to mention regarding “ROJAK”
In Penang = original with fruits + “Hae Ko”(Shrim Paste), Super nice ar… : )
      (Timun,Bang Kuang,Chui Jambu,Ong Lai etc…)

In Johor = Fruits mix with “Noodles” (The one Tui Pui Mee), Maybe Vincent can introduce more on the ingredients.

In Singapore = Fruits with “Eu Char Kueh””Tao Pok””Tau Geh””Ba Long Long””Bunga Kantan”(Laksa Hua) & Fruits. It’s really ROJAK, Ha Mik Pun Cham Lok Khi Keow. but I dun like their rojak paste, a bit sour sour, not nice ler… : (

    11. Ang Ku Kueh

I think you all had oso missed on called “Buah Petai”
You all know that? U all like to eat?
I dun like to eat, its very smelly when you “Pang Jiu”
It may caused you “Pang Chao Pui” oso… Haha… : )

    12. shua Hu

“lim kim” that mentioned by Soh Si Ken is not “ang mo liu lian”, It is nona lah.

    13. Xiamen Ah Long

      Hello:

Nona = Should not be Ang Mo Liu Lian, should be Ang Mo Lai Chee instead !
      Langsat = Just langsat
Pulasan = It’s called Pu2 Tao2 Sang1 in China, I think some part in China does have it.

Ciku = Last time in Standard 1, we learned it in the school, Ren2 Xin1 Guo3. Lang Sim Koh.

none of u said manggis was nice, but if you live down under in oz, u appreciate how good it is. In malaysia they sell for peanuts, but here they cost a fortune at 1.98AUD (1.48 USD) EACH! At these price it is simply not affordable to like manggis!

    15. agentpink
