Guests: Ah Hua, Katakpuru, & Lapchiong
This show will be posted during my vacation. I’m sure this show will cause a bit of a discussion. But I will not be able to take part in it until I come back. The NEXT SHOW #57 will be LATE. Expect to have #57 out on Monday or Tuesday.
This show was recorded almost two months ago. But how appropriate that I have scheduled for the show to be posted almost right after our heated discussion on the comment area on show #54 and in our forum about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender topic. You get to hear directly from two gay men, one straight man and one straight woman’s point of view on the GLBT community. Share your stories and experience here in the comment area or in our Penang Hokkien forum.
=== Take part in our Penang Hokkien Forum and be involved in the show. And add yourself to Penang Hokkien Frappr Map. Just click on the banner on the top right corner. ===
NOTE:The best way to listen to the show is to subscribe to it. iTunes is one of the simplest ones to use. After downloading iTunes and installing it. Just come back to this page and click on the “Subscribe PenangHokkien via iTunes” button on the left. When the Penang Hokkien page comes up in iTunes. Simply click “SUBSCRIBE”. Once you are subscribed. You will never miss another episode. And you’ll be the first ones to get a brand-new show.
I think that calling Indians galing galing is very rude. When I was young I asked my mother why we call Indians galing galing. She asked me to hear them talk, and I would hear them say galing galing. This is so true 😉
Gay people have feelings. Lesbian people have feelings. Transexual people too have feelings. Straight people have feelings too. So let us be nice to one another and do not call one another by strange names. They are just people!
For those parents out there – love your children like God loves them. If they are gay or lesbian or transexual, love them all the same. God loves straight people the same like gay, or lesbian or transexual. So there!
Giam cia ark teung = salted vegetable duck soup is very nice! This is my name!
just want to clarify that “penangkia” mentioned in this episode is not related to me. i’m not a headmaster.
Ha-Ha. I know that. You’re but he’s . In fact I thought you were him when I 1st met you online.
I am someone who can accept someone gay or lesbian as my friend, but I can’t accept em as my girl friend or boy friend.

I’m so glad when the ‘gay’ Issue is being broadcast. Its horifiying to know that there are still loads of People here have negative feelings about the homosexual. They are human too and they are not here harm anyone. so, cut them some slack!
I have a lot of gay frens too and learning that they have finaliiy came out is a celebration as I see that they r happier.
PEOPLE! Be more accepting of others! Think about it…they accept us as we are!

Firstly when I heard frm MIKU that he wanna talk on this kind of topics,
I tot that it would be very serious… mana tahu very “hor chio” & meaningful…
Katakpuru’s right… we are all same ppl on this mother earth, so definetely we should respect & accept each other lor…
gay = ah la (hokkien term) not sure please verify.
Rily transparent !! Love this show…………..Thanks to special guest Ah Hua,Lapchiong & Katapuru………….lovely voice….
well done Penanghokkien.
good show!
when ah hua told his mum ‘i’m not lesbian’, it’s really ‘juat & tok’… reminds me of all my gay frens.. miss them~ really cant wait for the 2nd episode about this topic.
i think the important thing is we must learn how to accept others tt are not the SAME as us. it’s weird, when we see someone wearing the SAME clothes or holding the SAME bags like us, we are not happy. but when the sexual preference is not the same, we are not happy as well. weird isnt it?
I would say we should just accept others. watch the X-MEN movies, it’s not for us to CURE them, coz GLBT is not ‘abnormal’ or ‘yiow guai’ or some kind of ‘disease’ or whatever. it’s also not for us to PITY them (like one of the comment i read in the forum). in fact, we should all learn how to co-exist.
one of my gay fren told me before: ???????????????????????????????????????colourful’ .
let me end this with one of my favourite quotes in X-MEN movie:
Nightcrawler: Excuse me? They say you can imitate anybody, even their voice.
Mystique: [as Nightcrawler] Even their voice.
Nightcrawler: Then why not stay in disguise all the time? You know, look like everyone else.
Mystique: Because we shouldn’t have to.
yes, because everyone shouldnt have to. so to all the beautiful and gorgeous and fabulous GLBT, ‘be yourself, be strong and be GORGEOUS!’
oppss.. the above msg is left by me, forgot to change and the old nickname came out.. hehe pai-seh..
it was quite an “ear” opener..i haven’t really had a chance to hear the thoughts and feelings of a gay man so openly before..and one of my frens is really against it..but i am sure u guys din choose to be different..it’s somehow in u..would like to learn more about it coz who knows my son might turn out to be a gay…
Thank Q for the comment above from “ah pau”….we didn’t choose to be PLU….we r who we r since we were born……n darn proud of who are!!!….Miku John…..aren’t we, ha!!!
Thanks for the lovely comment from “wantan”……I did sound funny all the time cause I don’t want to take life so seriously as life is too short to be bittered since we all only live once!!!!…so, wait for the part 2 of this show…..dunno when?…..
The main purpose for this show is not asking u “breeders” to accept “US” for who we r but at least try to understand “US” a little bit more!!! We r not asking for sympathy or “approval” from those breeders in order to allow “US” to survive in this world …..we were trying to enligthen “them” at least not to “HATE” gay homosapiens like ‘US”…cause we all r “EQUAL” regardless to our races, ages n most importantly…..our religions…..not to mention the sexual orientation!!!!
We all deserve compassion n support no matter who we r as an individual..as long as we don’t harm anyone……”WE” as “PLU” definitely don’t deserve any violence n bigotry from those homophobic…..sorry to say that but it happened!!!
Wake up…people!!!!
I found the website by reading the star online. I am malaysian hokkien from nearby penang…working in bangkok…i love the show and think it is a good way to “educate” the public on GLBT issues and life in general. Good to have opinions from both sides of the coin. Who knows one day I might add myself as a guest list to appear on the talk show and would love to join the gathering next CNY as i will be back in Penang every CNY …CHEERS !!
way to go!!
i m PLU…but stil have not come out of the closet…to scary…
my parents will not accept…
Giam Neng, I understand your concern. I have been there myself. Be strong, be honest, be yourself. The reason why I choose to this show is to let a lot of us, PLUs or anyone who’s different out there, know that it’s okay to be different. You are not alone. Hopefully with more education and exposures, people would start to realize that the problem isn’t us. The problem is the lack of knowledge. We’ll overcome this.
