miku john, wa pun suka lim milo peng keh milo hoon. jin ho liao!!!

    2. rain angel

Aussie pronounce Milo as ‘mai-lo’, very common drink but i reckon it doesn’t taste the same as the one back home. Kids love them, a glass of milk (cold fresh milk) and sprinkle the Milo on top.

Milo itself is a ‘good drink’, it’s categorised as ‘formulated supplementary food, good source of iron and calcium, particularly good for asians. and it’s also low in GI (glycaemic index, in layman term, release sugar/energy slowly into our blood system). of course, this is when you have the milo with milk or with water. adding excessive sugar/sweetened condensed like we m’sian do, will be another story =P

      Facts about milk:
In general, there are 3 different types (in terms of fat content)
      1) Full Cream Milk
      2) Reduced Fat Milk/ Low Fat Milk (not more than 1.5g of total fat/100ml)
      3) Skim Milk (not more than 0.15g of total fat/ 100ml)

John was right, reduced fat/low fat/ skim milk have higher sugar content (lactose), which could be an issue for people with lactose intolerance (associated with symptoms of abdominal upset/ diarrhoea after taking milk/dairy products), which is pretty common amongst asian.

Besides, reduced fat/ low fat/ skim milk also have higher protein content as compared to full cream milk.

hi,good evening to everyone in penang hockkien, this show seems to be interesting,,,btw, in penang, ppl call “gu leng peng” and very few ppl call bandung in kopitiam…but in mamak, yes, ppl call it bandung..and in KL, ppl also call it bandung, seldom hear “gu leng peng” in KL. ah…do you knoe ” Heng Jin” drink ?
      in kopitiam?

    5. Miku John

      Thanks for all your feedback.
I do know Heng Jin, I’m surprised I left that out. Some people think it smells like “bak sat”.
I happen to like it. Usually older people like it better. It’s almond isn’t it?

    6. dertraum

It’s called ‘gu leng peng’. I think the reason why most people call it bandung is due to the mamak culture. But there was once my brother asked for ‘gu leng peng’ and the chap actually brought milk with ice to him. It was darn funny!
Another drink that I don’t think was mentioned in the show is ‘cham peng’. It’s a mix of coffee and tea. Don’t know if any of you ever had it before.
Heng Jin is almond..and man! It tastes horrible. Hahahah!

    7. Ang Ku Kueh

Yuck… I dislike Heng Jin punya smell also… Its seems like toothpaste anneh…
      hehe ^_^

    8. lehlew

hi, dertraum , reg the “cham peng”, i dun actually know ..but it is called “Ying Yung” in cantonese or “Yin Yang” in mandrin. It was found on Kim Gary restaurant menu..means mixture of coffee and tea…very nice actually…

BTW, pls look at this blog..seems interesting

heng jin veli phai lim tapi veli ho…
      wa beh tahan….

    10. Ah Hua

Loved this show!!! Even funnier than the previous one!!! I’ve made the right decision not to listen to this podcast in public like I always do cause I don’t want other people assumed me that I’m “orang gila” anymore, ha!!!… : )
I personally very keen on Heng Jin drink a lot!!!!! I know a lot of people didn’t like it but I really do cause it smell a taste so “sedap”!!!….”Are we getting old Miku John? ha!!!”
I like the way how Miku John “teased” his guests on this show…so “shiok” man, ha!!!…….especially all those discreet ? ? interpretations…cracked me up “Big Time”!!!!!…like “Tongkak Ali” n the acronym of “T.L.P”……darn funny!!!!
By the way, does any body know what ? ? tea is originally made from?….I still don’t know what the “Key Ingredient” is in this “minuman” though I never liked the taste of this drink, ha!
I’m going back to Penang tomorrow…..so, I will make sure I pig out like a swine the moment my feets touched the ground of Penang’s soil!!!!! Will definitely go for that “Am-pu-la Sen-Phuai” drink at ? ? ? … die-die must “minum” one-lor!!!!….very the very “shiok”!!!!

    11. rain angel

      hey…another two drinks!
      sugarcane and horlicks!!!

    12. Ang Ku Kueh

Yalar hor… we all lor moh liao… forget Kam Chia Chui pulak… 🙂

I like to drink fresh Kam Chia Chui (sugarcane), if u add a slice of lemon in it,
      It would taste better…

As for horlicks, i drink when i was small, maybe last time we poor mah…
can effort to drink milo onli… Milo cheaper than horlicks… Ovantine punya taste
lagi abit pelik… so drink milo still the best… ^_^

    13. shuahuan

      Let me guess…
Pat Poh Peng is made of 8 kind of Herbs in some factory in Penang…
Just Penang Got “Pat Poh Peng” only…
i cant find it in Klang or Kuala Lumpur…
so each time i go penang i will drink Pat Poh Peng…
any one know where can get Pat Poh Peng in Center Of Malaysia?
      actualy Neslo is from Mamak1…
i just know this drink when i in KL Mamak Stall…
      Actualy in those Tradisional Kopitiam…
there are no Sugar Cane, Soya Bean to sell 1…
      (except Bottle soya bean)
they just start sell it in Southern Of Malaysia (S’pore Too)
than spread to Northern Of Malaysia…
Kam Jiak Zui & Dao Zui just can be find in Pasar Malam or Pasar (Ban San) only..
but now days…business hard to do…so the Kopitiam Owner also sell lor…
      But i can tell you…
if you want fresh Soya Bean or fresh Sugar Cane…
realy must go to Original Place to buy1…(pasar pagi or malam)
u know the sugar cane & soya bean in a machine in those morden kopitiam is Over Night 1…the taste sure not as original as those fresh 1 in market…

    14. bubblesdog

Anyone heard of ‘lick my koteh peng’ b4??? guess what, it’s made up of Horlicks, milo, kopi and teh!!

    15. Penangknia

      Pat Pho Peng = ??? | ???
Another literal pronunciation of ? that I have been ignoring. I think it is a more “traditional” Chinese drinks. Do they have it in Amoy?

    16. Penangknia

      Dear all pat poh fans,

Penang typical pat poh is now available in One To Eat Restaurant, opposite Sunway International School. Price is reasonable, I think more or less RM2.00 only.
