Guests: Ah Tox, Katakpuru & Chiam Chiah

Several weeks ago, our old bird Katakpuru suggested that we talk about interesting occupations. She came up with this interesting one, a tailor or a seamstress. And did you know that Ah Tox used to be a tailor? Katakpuru’s mother is Chiam Chiah, and she used to sew clothes in her own neighborhood. Find out more about their fun and interesting experience of being a Chai Hong.

    My favourite handicraft shop is Soo Thong in Komtar….. Its a very small shop but they got lots of stuff……My favourite place to shop for acrylic beads, buttons, ribbons and laces……. Another place is near the Kuantan Rd market but i forgotten the name of the shop….i think its Chong Lam….

    My grandfather used to be a tailor last time… the whole family didn’t have to buy clothes hehe…
    I used handicraft stuff from a shop -that i forgot the name.. its located behind a car showroom.. if i’m not mistaken, the lane opposite NewWorldPark.. it’s the only handicraft store I know.. haha..

    I used to buy chiu leng (rubber) & zip for my grandma from Ah Seng at 2nd floor Komtar. The shop name …… don’t know. Ah Seng sells a lot of things for Chai Hong.

    Can I suggest that all ppl here share their photos – that wearing those dress/ blouse sewing by their mum / chai hong…last time,seems like most of the mum know how to sew a dress…(as i got interview my friends…most of them have had wear the dress that sew by their mum…
    I gonna try to korek out the photos & scan…keke..
