I do not pass the PGHK culture to my kid. I regret for not doing so, but it is never too late. I will start from now. It is so much fun to listen to the podcast held on the little PG street. That recalled my memories 27 yrs ago when I studied in PG. Salute to all of you, keep up the hard work. By the way, I kept my mum’s nyonya shoes which is beautiful. I will take picture and show you guys soon. They are at least 26 yrs old.

I was there with my family and I managed to convince mom + family to go to Upper Penang Road instead of a pre-appointed place. I would like to congratualate Miku + Xiamen Ah Loong for a great show. Tan Cheng Hoe said correctly that we need to somehow keep and promote the Penang Hokkien unique cocktail dialect especially among the younger generation.

Hilites of the show are the hokkien riddles which I’ve posed to my colleagues back in the office. Took some times for the ladies to answer back in red faces. Amuzing lah. 🙂

A very interesting live show… It recall me back for those “hokkien Pantun” which I’m almost forget… Keep it up the hardwork 🙂

regarding the cocktail dialect, during one interview by Guang Ming Daily on 25/Feb, we mentioned this, penang hokkien is very different and unique cos it mixed with others languague like malay & english. But one thing, if a sentence which with 10 words, it got 5 english, 3 malay & only 2 hokkien. Is this still Penang hokkien???
Penang Hokkien is mixed but please don’t forget the main “ingredient” that is HOKKIEN.

The live show is really a good success. This remind me not to forgot my mother tough. Have been abroad about 10 years and noticed that most of the malaysian bring up their child in the foreign land do not speak nor understand hokkien. So sad to hear. But I hope that those malaysian settle down in foreign land would put some effort to teach their child some basic hokkien at home…..

Still in Penang, came to know this podcast because I am searching for Penang hokkien Riddles & Rhymes. This is because I want to recall my old nanny’s stories and rhymes. She use to make me repeat all those… but I kinda forget some so I wanted to recall it back. So thanks to this website. I will contact the authors. LalalilaTam Pung……….
